Mumbai, Dec 4 (V7N) – An IndiGo flight bound for Hyderabad from Sharjah was diverted to Mumbai on Thursday after a mid-air bomb threat was detected. The pilot made an emergency decision to change course, and the plane landed safely in Mumbai.

Earlier the same day, a Madinah-Hyderabad IndiGo flight also received a bomb threat via email, stating that a bomb would detonate if the plane landed in Hyderabad. The flight was diverted to Ahmedabad, where it was safely taken to an isolated area and thoroughly searched. There were over 180 passengers and six crew members on board, all of whom were evacuated safely, according to Ahmedabad Zone-4 Deputy Commissioner of Police Atul Bansal.

IndiGo is currently facing a major operational crisis due to new crew rostering rules, leading to the cancellation of over 300 flights across India on Thursday. Delhi saw 33 flight cancellations, Hyderabad 68, Mumbai 85, and Bengaluru 73. Similar disruptions were reported at various airports on the previous day, causing widespread inconvenience to passengers.
