Riyadh, Mar 9 (V7N) — A United States soldier has died after being wounded in an Iranian attack on a U.S. military facility in Saudi Arabia, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Monday night (Bangladesh time).

In a statement, CENTCOM said the service member had been critically injured during an Iranian strike targeting U.S. forces in Saudi Arabia on March 1.

The command noted that the soldier succumbed to his injuries Sunday night after receiving treatment for wounds sustained during the initial wave of Iranian attacks in the Middle East.

“With this death, the total number of U.S. service members killed in Operation Epic Fury has risen to seven,” CENTCOM said, adding that a major military operation remains ongoing in the region.

The identity of the deceased soldier will be released 24 hours after the family has been formally notified, according to standard U.S. military procedure.
