Iran, May 05 (V7N) - Iran has rejected accusations from the United Arab Emirates that it deliberately targeted oil facilities in Fujairah, where a drone strike injured three Indian nationals. Iranian state TV reported Monday that the Islamic Republic had “no pre-planned programme” to attack the site, blaming the incident instead on what it called US military “adventurism” in the Strait of Hormuz.
A senior Iranian military official said the strike was linked to American efforts to create a passage for ships to bypass restrictions in the strait, insisting that Washington must be held accountable. He urged US officials to stop using force in diplomatic processes and warned against destabilizing actions in the sensitive oil region.
The UAE described the incident as a “dangerous escalation” amid the ongoing ceasefire in the Middle East war. Tensions have remained high since US President Donald Trump announced plans to escort stranded ships out of the Gulf under Project Freedom.
Iran’s navy fired warning shots at US warships on Monday, while Trump claimed US forces had destroyed seven small Iranian boats. A US admiral earlier reported six vessels destroyed, but Tehran denied any had been sunk.
The exchange highlights the fragile state of negotiations between Washington and Tehran, with both sides trading accusations even as talks continue on ending the wider conflict.
