In a bold move, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree authorizing the confiscation of U.S. properties within Russia. This decision comes as a direct response to the potential seizure of Russian assets by the United States.

The decree empowers the Russian Central Bank and other Russian entities to pursue legal action in cases where properties are unlawfully seized by the U.S. A special government commission will be tasked with identifying U.S. assets within Russia, including both movable and immovable properties, securities, shares in Russian enterprises, and property rights. These assets could be used to offset any losses Russia incurs.

The Russian government has a four-month deadline to propose amendments to national legislation to ensure the decree's smooth implementation.
