Surat, July 6 2024 – A six-storey building collapse in Surat has resulted in the death of 7 person and injuries to 15 others. The incident took place on Saturday, leaving a scene of chaos and prompting an extensive rescue operation.

The building, which was constructed only eight years ago, came down around noon. At least five families were inside when the structure collapsed, and many are feared trapped under the debris. The state police, fire service personnel, and a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are working tirelessly to locate and rescue any remaining survivors.

In a dramatic rescue effort, a woman was pulled alive from the rubble. Fifteen other individuals have also been rescued and are receiving medical treatment for their injuries.

Witnesses described the horrifying moment when the building crumbled before their eyes. "The building collapsed in an instant, creating a chaotic situation," said a local resident. "People rushed to help, trying to save those trapped under the rubble."

Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot confirmed the building's collapse in Pali village and noted that it was constructed during 2016-17. He stated, "A woman was rescued and sent to the hospital. Rescue efforts are ongoing as we search for any remaining survivors."

Footage from the scene shows the extensive damage, with huge slabs of concrete lying atop a mountain of debris. Rescue officials are seen clearing the rubble and searching for survivors amid the wreckage.
