Meerut, Sep 15 (V7N)– A three-storey building collapsed in Zakir Colony, Meerut, due to heavy rains, leaving at least 10 people dead and several others injured. The collapse occurred on Saturday, and rescue operations continued into Sunday, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) working at the scene.

District Magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed that three people are still feared to be trapped under the debris. Rescue efforts are ongoing to locate and save those individuals. Of the 14 people initially trapped, eight were rescued earlier, but three later succumbed to their injuries.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered swift relief operations and proper medical care for the injured. Senior officials, including Meerut Divisional Commissioner Selva Kumari J and Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada, visited the site to oversee the rescue efforts.

This tragic incident follows another building collapse in Lucknow on September 7, which claimed eight lives and injured 28 people.
