New York, Sep 24 (V7N) – Bangladesh Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, engaged in a crucial discussion with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. The brief yet significant meeting focused on enhancing Bangladesh-Canada bilateral relations, promoting freedom, and fostering institutional development, especially for the youth of Bangladesh.

In a symbolic gesture, Professor Yunus presented Prime Minister Trudeau with The Art of Triumph, an art book showcasing murals created by students and young individuals during and after Bangladesh's Revolution. Trudeau acknowledged the importance of this exchange, commending Professor Yunus for his leadership and reiterating Canada’s commitment to support Bangladesh's journey toward building robust institutions.

During the conversation, Chief Adviser Yunus highlighted the damages inflicted upon Bangladesh’s institutions by the previous regime and expressed deep gratitude to Canada for its consistent friendship and backing of the interim government. He further requested that Canada increase the number of visas granted to Bangladeshi students.

Professor Yunus commenced his UN engagement by attending a reception hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, where he interacted with several key global leaders. Following this, he participated in the inaugural session of the UNGA.

In the coming days, Professor Yunus is scheduled for a one-on-one meeting with US President Joe Biden, as well as discussions with the IMF Managing Director and the Italian Prime Minister. He is also set to address the Clinton Global Initiative and a Friends of Bangladesh event.

This sequence of high-level meetings underscores Bangladesh's proactive stance on international collaboration under the leadership of Professor Yunus.
