New York, Sep 29 (V7N): UN Under Secretary-General Rabab Fatima has assured Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus of the United Nations' full support for Bangladesh's smooth transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status. The assurance came during a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Fatima praised Bangladesh for its ongoing commitment to LDC issues and its support for the work of the UN Office of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (UNOHRLLS). She expressed it was an honor to meet the Chief Adviser and discuss the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA).

Appointed in August 2022, Fatima’s role as Under Secretary-General includes supporting LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS in achieving Sustainable Development Goals and implementing their respective global programmes of action. Collectively, these groups represent the world's 92 most vulnerable nations.
