Feni June 9,(V7N)- The value of palm kernels has increased in Feni due to the intense heat. Many people are enjoying this juicy fruit sold on the sidewalks to get some relief. Both young palm shells and ripe palms are very popular in Feni. They are rich in nutrients and contain various vitamins and minerals.
Since most of the fruit is water, consuming it quickly alleviates dehydration. Palm shells can be seen being sold in various alleys, including Dighi Par, Bara Bazar, Railgate Bazar, Mukta Bazar, Police Line, District Administration Courtyard, and Sahdevpur Bazar in Feni city. Palm shells are a favorite food among people of all ages. Due to high demand, this fruit is widely sold throughout the district.
Rasheda Kom bought palm shells for the entire family in the Pathan Bari Road area of the city. She said there is no adulteration in the palm shells despite the intense heat in Feni. Palm shells are not sold in supermarkets but are only available on footpaths or in small neighborhood markets. Everyone can afford them because the price of palm shells is within reach.
The district health officer mentioned that palm shells are very beneficial. They are effective for diets, and also prevent dry skin and hair fall. Additionally, they are beneficial for the liver, constipation, and anemia. They are also delicious to eat, making them advantageous for everyone during this time.
Zakir Hasan, a wholesaler of palm shells, said that after collecting the palms from various places both inside and outside the district, they are sold through the district's retailers in the small alleys of the city.
Shahidul Islam, a retailer of palm shells, said he has been selling palm shells for the past fifteen years during the hot season. He previously sold them in his village, but now he sells them in the city. Sales are good, and after all expenses, he makes a daily profit of 7-800 taka. As the heat increases, the demand for palm shells also rises.
