Oct 22, V7N- Former captain Kane Williamson will miss New Zealand's second Test against India, starting in Pune on Thursday, as he continues his recovery from a groin strain, New Zealand Cricket announced on Tuesday.

The Black Caps secured their first Test victory in India in 36 years without Williamson, who is currently in New Zealand focusing on his rehabilitation from the injury sustained during a recent series against Sri Lanka.

Coach Gary Stead provided an update on Williamson's condition, stating, "We're monitoring Kane, and he's tracking in the right direction, but he isn't yet 100% fit." He expressed hope for further improvement in the coming days, aiming for Williamson to be available for the third Test, scheduled to take place in Mumbai at the start of November. The team is adopting a cautious approach, allowing Williamson ample time to prepare for his return.
