Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N)- Bangladesh Test captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto has expressed his intention to step down from his leadership role following the Test series against South Africa. Shanto recently informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) of his decision, pending final approval from BCB President Farooq Ahmed.

According to *Cricbuzz*, a top official at the BCB disclosed that Shanto had initially contemplated resigning from the captaincy after this year’s T20 World Cup but reconsidered. This time, however, he appears firm in his decision. A BCB director reportedly made efforts to persuade Shanto to retain the role, yet these attempts have been unsuccessful.

If Shanto’s resignation is accepted, the BCB will need to identify a new captain ahead of the next series, adding further complexity to team preparations.
