Oct 27, V7N- Sergio Perez faced a disappointing qualifying session for his home race at the Mexico City Formula One Grand Prix on Saturday, finishing in 18th place on the grid. While his Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen secured a front-row position, the disparity in performance highlighted Perez's struggles throughout the weekend.

Reflecting on his performance, Perez expressed his frustration, stating, "Here is the worst place to not perform, I am super disappointed. The Grand Prix where I wanted to do the best possible job, it is just not coming together." He emphasized his desire to deliver for the passionate home crowd, remarking, "I owe these fans; they are the best in the world. This is the best race in the world."

Having previously achieved notable success in Mexico City, including two podium finishes, Perez began the season strongly but has struggled since May. He has only managed to accumulate 150 points compared to Verstappen's impressive 354, raising concerns about his future with Red Bull as speculation mounts over his 2025 contract.

In practice sessions leading up to the race, Perez's results were not encouraging—finishing 10th, 9th, and 14th. He reported encountering brake issues similar to those he faced in the previous races in Singapore and Austin, explaining, "Into the low speed, I cannot brake or stop the car. As soon as I attack the braking, I start sliding and locking up." He added that the braking problems have significantly affected his confidence in the car, making it challenging to perform at his best.

Looking ahead to the race, Perez hopes to improve and aim for points, but he acknowledged the difficulty of the task. With Carlos Sainz starting from pole position and strong competition from Ferrari, the upcoming race promises to be a tough challenge for the Mexican driver.
