Comilla Victorians, the defending champions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), have boosted their squad with the arrival of West Indies legends Sunil Narine and Andre Russell for the remaining matches of the BPL 2024 season. The franchise announced their signing on social media on Saturday, February 17th, expressing their excitement and confidence.

Russell, the all-rounder, joined the team after completing his national duties, having played in a T20I series against Australia for the West Indies. Russell, who is known for his explosive batting and bowling, has played in the BPL before, winning the title with Dhaka Dynamites in 2016.

Narine, the spinner and pinch-hitter, joined the team after his team Abu Dhabi Knight Riders were knocked out in the semi-final of the ILT20, a new international T20 league. Narine has a strong BPL track record, having taken 41 wickets in 43 matches, and also scoring 488 runs at a strike rate of 151.55.

The duo will join forces with Mathew Forde, the young Barbadian all-rounder, and Moeen Ali, the experienced English all-rounder, in Comilla’s camp. Comilla has a balanced and formidable team, with the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Mustafizur Rahman also in their ranks.

Comilla is currently in second place on the points table with seven wins and two defeats in nine matches. They are only behind Rangpur Riders, who have eight wins and one defeat. Comilla will face Sylhet Strikers in their next match on Monday (February 19th) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. The Caribbean stars are expected to make their debut for Comilla in that match.
