Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladesh and Comilla Victorians fast bowler, sustained a head injury during a training session at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday (February 18). He was hit by a powerful shot from the bat of his teammate Matthew Ford while returning to his bowling mark. He started bleeding from his head and was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
According to Comilla Victorians physio SM Zahidul Islam Sajal, a CT scan of Mustafizur’s head at the Imperial Apollo Hospital in Chattogram revealed no internal bleeding. The injury was on the outside of the head. However, due to the fracture of the head, stitches were done on the injured area. Mustafizur is being closely monitored by the physio of Comilla Victorians. After the bandage was applied, the bleeding stopped.
Mustafizur, who is known for his cutter deliveries, is a key player for both Comilla Victorians and the Bangladesh national team. His injury has raised concerns among the fans and the team management. His availability for the next match against Sylhet Strikers on Monday (February 19) is uncertain.
Comilla Victorians are currently in second place in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 season, with seven wins and two losses in nine matches. They are only behind Rangpur Riders, who have eight wins and one loss.
