During practice at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Sunday, Mustafizur Rahman sustained a head injury after being hit by a ball while bowling to Liton Kumar Das in the nets. The incident resulted in blood oozing from his head, prompting immediate medical attention and transportation to the hospital for a CT scan.
Fortunately, initial assessments revealed no significant danger; however, Mustafizur will undergo observation due to the nature of his head injury, as stated by Comilla franchise physio SM Jahidul Islam Sajal. Currently, he is under the close supervision of a neurosurgeon team at Imperial Hospital, with a GCI Scale of 15/15, indicating full alertness and consciousness.
Despite receiving five stitches on his head, Mustafizur's condition remains stable, with no signs of concussion reported by Zahidul Islam to the media at the hospital. Consultant Moinuddin Ilyas from the Department of Neurosurgery at Imperial Hospital emphasized the precautionary measures taken, although the CT scan showed bleeding outside the brain and bones, ruling out internal hematoma.
Mustafizur's absence from the upcoming match against Sylhet Strikers in the BPL on Monday is certain, given his current medical situation. With nine matches played so far in the league, he has been a standout performer for the team, boasting 11 wickets and a best bowling figure of 3 for 32 against Fortune Barishal. However, his focus now lies on recuperating from this unfortunate incident.
