Archer Md Sagor Islam has been selected to carry the national flag of Bangladesh in the march past of the 33rd Olympic Games, scheduled to be held from July 24 to August 11 in Paris. This announcement was made by the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Secretary General, Syed Shahed Reza, at a press conference held at the BOA auditorium. Sagor's direct qualification for the Olympics played a pivotal role in his selection for this prestigious honor.

Carrying the national flag at an event as significant as the Olympics is a momentous achievement, and Sagor expressed his gratitude to the BOA for bestowing this opportunity upon him. He conveyed his excitement and pride in representing Bangladesh in this capacity.

Sagor is set to compete in the men’s individual ranking round on July 25, the day before the opening ceremony. His performance in this round will determine his subsequent participation in the men's individual event on July 30.

The Bangladesh contingent, led by Chef de Mission Enthekhabul Hamid, comprises thirteen members, including athletes, trainers, and officials. The team will compete in four disciplines—archery, athletics, shooting, and swimming. Notably, Sagor Islam qualified directly on merit, while the remaining four athletes received wild card entries.

The preparations for the Bangladesh disciplines in the Paris Olympics are underway, with the archery and shooting teams set to depart for Paris on Saturday, July 20, and the athletic and swimming teams scheduled to leave on July 23 and 24, respectively.
