Pabna, Sept 30 (V7N) – To observe World Heart Day, an awareness rally and a series of programs were organized in Pabna on Sunday. The event aimed to raise public consciousness about cardiovascular health and preventive care.
The rally, held in the morning, concluded with a discussion session emphasizing the importance of heart health and lifestyle measures to prevent cardiovascular diseases. During the program, the service-oriented organization HeartBeat donated medicines worth approximately Tk 40,000 to Pabna 250-Bed General Hospital. The medicines were handed over to the hospital’s Director, Dr. Rafiqul Hasan, by HeartBeat’s Chief Cardiologist, Dr. Shahriar Kabir.
Following the donation, food and flowers were distributed to patients admitted to the hospital’s Cardiology Department as part of the awareness initiative.
The event was attended by prominent medical professionals and officials, including Dr. Rafiqul Hasan, Director of Pabna General Hospital, who served as the chief guest, and Dr. Shahriar Kabir, Head of the Cardiology Department, as special guest. Other attendees included Dr. Shafiqul Hasan, Kutub Uddin Awal, Moniruzzaman Monir, Dr. Ainul Haque, Sanowar Nowaz Khan, Nazmul Haque, RMO Dr. Zahidul Islam, Cardiology In-Charge Mohammad Nazrul Islam, and Poli Begum, among others.
World Heart Day, observed annually on September 29, is a global campaign established by the World Heart Federation to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases, which are among the leading causes of death worldwide. The day encourages governments, health professionals, and the public to adopt heart-healthy lifestyles, including balanced diets, regular exercise, and avoiding tobacco use, to reduce the global burden of heart disease.
The Pabna initiative highlighted the importance of community engagement in promoting heart health and supporting patients in local healthcare facilities.
