Oct 29, V7N- Malaysia's former prime minister, Mahathir Mohamad, nearly a century old, has been released from the hospital following treatment for a respiratory infection, as confirmed by his office. Mahathir, who turned 99 in July, was admitted shortly after his birthday due to persistent coughing. Earlier this year, he also spent nearly three months hospitalized.
Despite his advanced age, Mahathir intends to resume work. Known for his long political career, he served as prime minister from 1981 to 2003, and briefly again in 2018, making him the world’s oldest head of government at 92. Although his coalition fell apart in 2020, Mahathir remains politically active, often voicing criticism of current Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, especially after unexpectedly losing his parliamentary seat in 2022.
