Sochi, Nov 08 (V7N) – In a public address, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his election as the 47th president of the United States. Speaking at a rally in Sochi on Thursday, Putin expressed his readiness for dialogue with the newly elected president, marking the first official acknowledgment of Trump’s victory from the Russian leader.

During his speech, Putin praised Trump’s resilience, referencing an incident last July where Trump sustained injuries in an attack at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. "I was impressed by the way he stood up and raised his fists even after being shot," Putin stated, adding, "Trump handled the situation with courage. I take this opportunity to congratulate him on winning the election."

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine also surfaced during Putin’s remarks. He highlighted Trump’s previous statements, suggesting Trump’s confidence in his ability to mediate and bring an end to the war. "His claim that he can stop the war should be given some attention," Putin noted, hinting at the possibility of future collaboration between the U.S. and Russia on the issue.

Trump, who is expected to assume office in January, reportedly plans to hold a phone conversation with Putin in the coming days to discuss future cooperation and international relations. This anticipated dialogue could signal a shift in U.S.-Russia relations under the new administration.
