DAKAR, Senegal, Feb 01 (V7N) — Social media star Khaby Lame has been appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, marking a new chapter in his journey from internet sensation to humanitarian advocate.

Lame, who was born in Senegal but raised in Italy since the age of two, expressed his deep connection to both nations. “My blood is from Senegal, but I feel Senegalese and Italian at the same time,” he told The Associated Press while dressed in a sharp beige suit and matching tie.

The appointment followed a four-day visit to Senegal, where Lame met with children and young people leading positive change in their communities. As a UNICEF ambassador, he aims to use his massive online platform to advocate for children’s rights, education, and social development.
