Washington, D.C., Feb 04 (V7N) – Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has been officially designated as a "special government employee" under President Donald Trump's administration, a White House official confirmed to CNN on Monday.

This designation allows Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, to work for the U.S. government for up to 130 days within a 365-day period without being a full-time federal employee. Sources familiar with the matter also revealed that Musk has been granted a top-secret security clearance.

Musk’s Role and Access to Government Systems

Musk has been given a broad mandate to implement a government efficiency initiative known as Dodge, aimed at streamlining federal operations. As part of his role, he has been granted access to critical government systems, including the Treasury Department's vital payment infrastructure, which handles financial transactions on behalf of the entire federal government.

President Trump, addressing the matter on Monday, stated, “Elon Musk cannot and will not do anything without our approval. And where appropriate, we will approve him; where appropriate, we will not.”

The decision to give Musk access to sensitive government data has sparked controversy. On Monday, several federal employee unions and watchdog groups sued the Treasury Department, alleging that Musk’s access to financial systems violates federal laws designed to protect personal and financial information.
