Kashmir, Apr 29 (V7N)- For the fifth consecutive night, gunfire erupted along the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan. The Indian Army accused Pakistan of unprovoked small arms fire in Kupwara, Baramulla, and Akhnoor sectors. India retaliated accordingly.

According to Deutsche Welle, firing has taken place nightly since April 24. While no casualties have been reported so far, tensions remain high following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam that left 26 dead, including 25 tourists and one soldier.

In response, India has announced a series of measures against Pakistan, while Islamabad has suspended all bilateral agreements, including the Shimla Accord. Residents of Kashmir report regular midnight gunfire and increased troop deployments along the border.

The Pahalgam attack is the deadliest in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.
