Saudi Arabia has issued a 'red alert' following heavy rains that have swept across the nation, prompting school closures and flash flood warnings. According to reports from Gulf News on Tuesday, the adverse weather conditions have affected various cities, including the capital Riyadh and Jeddah.

The inclement weather has led to the suspension of school and university classes in several regions, including Riyadh, Qasim, and Hafar Al Batin. The National Meteorological Center (NCM) has issued the 'red alert' specifically for the North Tabuk region, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, hail, and potential flash floods.

Forecasters predict moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers in several areas, with the possibility of dust storms and hailstorms in Madinah, Makkah, Tabuk, and coastal regions. Residents have been urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant amidst the challenging weather conditions.

The Meteorological Center anticipates the continuation of rain across most parts of the country until Wednesday, emphasizing the need for ongoing monitoring and preparedness measures. Last Friday, the unexpected occurrence of snow covering the Afif desert west of Riyadh following hail further underscored the unpredictable nature of the weather in the region, leaving many astonished and sharing videos of the rare event on social media.
