Tel Aviv, June 16, 2024 — The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have declared a 'strategic pause' in their military operations to enable more humanitarian aid to reach southern Gaza. The British media outlet, The Guardian, reported this development on Sunday.

The IDF announced that the curfew will commence daily at 8am local time in the Rafah area and will be in effect until 7pm. This pause will continue indefinitely until further notice, providing a crucial window for aid convoys to safely traverse the region.

The primary aim of this strategic pause is to allow trucks carrying humanitarian aid to move from the north to the south of Gaza. These trucks will travel via the Salah al-Din highway, entering through the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom crossing, ensuring that essential supplies reach those in need.

This initiative is being coordinated with the United Nations and various international aid agencies to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of aid. The move underscores the importance of humanitarian efforts amidst ongoing conflict and aims to mitigate the severe conditions faced by the residents of Gaza.
