United States, July 27 (V7N/AFP)- In a contentious speech aimed at rallying religious voters, US presidential candidate Donald Trump made false accusations against Kamala Harris, suggesting she is anti-Semitic and supports infanticide. Trump's remarks came at a religious convention in southern Florida and diverged sharply from his intended focus on Harris's record as senator and vice president.

Trump's claims that Harris, who is married to a Jewish man, is hostile towards Jewish people and Israel were unfounded. He further alleged, without evidence, that Harris opposes the Jewish community and is fundamentally against Israel.

During the address, Trump also accused Harris of wanting to legalize late-term abortion and impose drastic measures on medical treatments for children. He claimed that she plans to enact laws allowing for the killing of newborns, a serious distortion of her positions.

Trump's speech, which included other unfounded assertions about the Justice Department, the FBI, and Biden’s campaign, was marked by exaggeration and inaccuracies. The rhetoric comes as Trump, facing multiple legal challenges, tries to counter Harris’s rising popularity since she replaced Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket.

Trump's comments on Harris stand in sharp contrast to support from figures like Barack Obama for the vice president, as well as growing poll numbers showing Harris closing the gap with Trump. The former president's remarks also included criticism of Harris's previous policy positions and a call to action for upcoming debates, which he claimed would not favor Trump if they occurred.

Harris's campaign is preparing to challenge Trump on the issues and counter his claims, as Trump’s rally plans continue amidst a heightened political climate.
