USA, Sept 14 V7N- In a recent interview in Pennsylvania, Vice President Kamala Harris reached out to moderate voters by emphasizing her commitment to gun rights while advocating for "reasonable" gun safety laws. Harris, who is also the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election, clarified her position on the Second Amendment, stating that she supports Americans' right to own firearms, while pushing for an assault weapons ban and other safety measures like universal background checks.

Addressing gun violence, Harris pointed to her experience as a former prosecutor, where she dealt with the consequences of gun crimes, underscoring the impact of assault weapons on victims. She described these firearms as "tools of war," aligning with her call for stricter gun control policies that do not infringe on gun ownership rights.

The interview, part of her effort to appeal to swing voters in Pennsylvania, also touched on unity, as she called for leadership that brings Americans together, contrasting her approach with former President Donald Trump's divisive rhetoric. Harris reiterated her and her running mate Tim Walz's status as gun owners, seeking to appeal to voters who may support gun rights but also favor safety regulations.

Her remarks come at a critical time as the 2024 election campaign intensifies, particularly in key swing states like Pennsylvania, where gun policy is a hot topic.
