Six police officers were hurt early on Thursday morning when a bus struck them as they were conducting a normal vehicle inspection on the Sylhet-Sunamganj route in Temukhi, Sylhet district. The event happened when the police were manning a checkpoint designed to improve traffic safety protocols.

Azbahar Ali Sheikh, Additional DIG and Deputy Commissioner of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police; Kawsar Dastagir, Additional Deputy Commissioner; Zahurul Islam, Assistant Commissioner of the Airport Police Station; SM Nunu Mia, Officer-in-Charge of the Airport Police Station; Rezul Karim, Assistant Sub-Inspector; and driver Nayek Habibur Rahman are among the injured officers.

The tragedy occurred at approximately six in the morning when a "Real Coach" bus from Sunamganj struck the cops as it was being checked, according to Zakir Hossain, Commissioner of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police. The policemen suffered varying degrees of injury.

At a nearby hospital, the victims were given emergency care, and Azbahar Ali Sheikh was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) for further care.

Police seized the bus supervisor and impounded the vehicle after the incident. The bus driver, nevertheless, was able to flee the scene. Authorities have started looking into the collision and trying to find the motorist who fled.
