Dhaka, Mar 11 (V7N) – A devastating fire broke out in a seven-storey slum in the capital’s Mohakhali, reducing more than a hundred houses to ashes and damaging over 30 shops.

The fire started at around 3 AM on Tuesday and was brought under control by 5:20 AM after eight fire service units worked tirelessly to douse the flames.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire began after a transformer explosion, which sent a plume of fire onto nearby homes, rapidly spreading the blaze.

Authorities have announced that an investigation committee will be formed to determine the exact cause of the fire. Dhaka Division Fire Service Deputy Director Md. Saleh Uddin stated that no casualties had been reported so far. However, the extent of the financial loss remains unknown.
