Dhaka, Mar 21 (V7N) – Tarique Rahman exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings with people from all walks of life, including diplomats, academics, political leaders, and citizens, at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday morning.
The Prime Minister joined the greetings exchange at around 10:30 am, accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman.
A large number of people gathered at the venue from early morning to greet the Prime Minister on the occasion of Eid. The gates of Jamuna were opened to the public at 8:30 am, after which crowds of well-wishers, party leaders, activists, and professionals from various sectors began to throng the premises.
This year’s Eid holds special significance, as it marks the first time Tarique Rahman is celebrating Eid in Bangladesh after spending more than a decade and a half in exile in the United Kingdom. He returned to the country with his family on December 25 last year.
Tarique Rahman assumed office as Prime Minister following his party’s landslide victory in the 13th national election held on February 12, making this his first Eid as head of government.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister offered Eid prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan, joining thousands of devotees in the main congregation.
