Bagerhat, Nov 05 (V7N) – Three people were killed when a speeding truck hit a motorcycle on the Mongla–Khulna highway at Baburbari in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district on Monday evening.
The victims were identified as Jamir Ijardar, 50, Mizan Bepari, 45, and Haripada Roy, 40 — all residents of Rajnagar Union in Rampal and reportedly activists of the local unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
Rampal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Atiqur Rahman said the three men were returning home on a motorcycle after attending a BNP meeting at Bhagar Balur Math in Rampal. As they reached the Baburbari area in the evening, a speeding truck rammed their motorcycle, killing all three on the spot.
Police arrived shortly after the accident, recovered the bodies, and took them to the police station. Efforts are underway to trace and detain the truck involved in the crash, the OC said, adding that legal proceedings have been initiated regarding the incident.
