Four people, including three family members, were killed and five others injured in a severe collision between a passenger bus and a microbus in Chauddagram, Comilla. The accident occurred early Friday morning on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, resulting in the tragic deaths and multiple injuries.

Comilla, Sep 06 (V7N) - A tragic collision between a passenger bus and a microbus in the Miyar Bazar area of Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including three family members. Five others sustained injuries in the incident.

The accident occurred on Friday (September 6) at 6:30 a.m. in the Batisan-Nankara region of Chauddagram upazila, Comilla.

According to family and local sources, the victims were Mohammad Mamun (50), the third son of the late Mostafa from Barir House, Dakshin Lakshmipur village, Motbi Union, Feni Sadar Upazila; his 70-year-old mother-in-law Majeda Begum; his 5-month-old infant son Simon; and the microbus driver, Alauddin Hossain (27), from Master Para, Feni Sadar. The injured included Mamun's wife and five other individuals.

The injured are Mamun’s wife Rakhi (28), and children Mithila (10), Sina (4), and Maymuna (6 months).

At the family home in Dakshin Lakshmipur village, mourning has commenced as relatives are deeply grieving.

Mamun’s brother, Mohammad Hanif, stated that Mamun, who worked at a private hospital in Dhaka, had traveled to Feni two days ago to visit relatives affected by flooding. He was returning to Dhaka when the accident occurred in Chauddagram.

Miyar Bazar Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Rais Uddin confirmed that a stationary damaged truck was on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in the Chauddagram area. A microbus lost control and crashed into the truck. A passenger bus from Starline, which was following the microbus, then collided with it. This caused the microbus to be severely mangled. Four people in the microbus died instantly, and Mamun’s wife along with five others were injured. The injured have been taken to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex.

The officer mentioned that the involved bus, microbus, and truck have been brought to the police station. The bodies have been returned to the families, and legal proceedings are in progress.

Hanif also noted that the deceased will be buried in their family graveyard at approximately 9 p.m. on Friday.
