A recent function saw agricultural officers urging farmers to consider cultivating the high-yield Bangabandhu Dhan 100 variety on their lands in the upcoming seasons to achieve favorable outcomes. They highlighted the benefits of this Ufshi rice variety, emphasizing its resistance to diseases and its economic viability due to its satisfactory yield.

The occasion, a field day event held at a farm owned by farmer Abdur Rashid in Kunja-Nakai village, was organized by the Upazila agriculture office to encourage farmers to adopt the Bangabandhu Dhan 100 variety. Sub assistant agriculture officers (SAAO) Ziaul Haque Rintu and Zahangir Hossain provided insights into the cultivation method of the variety and emphasized its advantages over BRRI Dhan 28, including higher productivity and economic profitability.

The presence of zinc in Bangabandhu Dhan 100 was highlighted as beneficial, particularly for children in preventing diseases. Farmer Abdur Rashid shared his positive experience of achieving a yield of 25 maunds of paddy per bigha of land with the variety, prompting other farmers to express interest in cultivating it in future seasons.

The agricultural officers also discouraged farmers from continuing to cultivate BRRI Dhan 28 due to its susceptibility to diseases. The event featured demonstration plots to showcase the potential of the Bangabandhu Dhan 100 variety, drawing participation from farmers, public representatives, and journalists alike.
