New York, Sep 26 (V7N)- Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh's interim government, has called upon the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to increase its support in the health sector of Bangladesh. The request was made during a meeting with Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, at the United Nations headquarters on Wednesday.
According to Shafiqul Alam, the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary, Yunus highlighted the need for greater collaboration to improve health services in Bangladesh and urged the foundation to expand its involvement in various sectors, including healthcare. Suzman responded positively, expressing interest in enhancing the foundation's contribution to Bangladesh's development.
The Gates Foundation is already engaged in global health initiatives and has been involved with vaccine production and supporting the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B).
