Dhaka, Oct 1 (V7N): Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has reiterated Bangladesh's unwavering support for the State of Palestine and its people. "We will continue to support the cause of the Palestinian people," he declared during a courtesy meeting with Palestine's Ambassador Yousef Ramadan at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Yunus expressed optimism that Palestine will achieve its long-sought independent statehood. The two officials discussed various matters, including mutual interests, global backing for Palestine, the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and tensions in the Middle East.

Ambassador Ramadan praised Yunus' recent address at the United Nations, noting its timeliness and emphasis on the Palestinian issue. "You’ve spoken the truth," he remarked.

The envoy also mentioned that 60 Palestinian doctors, educated in Bangladesh, are now serving in Gaza, with an additional 200 Palestinian students awaiting higher education opportunities in Bangladesh.

While speaking at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on September 27, Yunus urged global leaders to enforce an immediate ceasefire to protect Palestinians from ongoing atrocities. He emphasized that those responsible for crimes against humanity in Palestine must be held accountable. Yunus stressed that the Palestinian issue concerns all of humanity and called for earnest efforts from the international community, including the UN, to implement the two-state solution as the only viable path to lasting peace in the region.
