Dhaka, Oct 02 (V7N) – Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Antonio Alessandro, met with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday to explore issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was held at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO).

During the high-level week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also had a discussion with Prof Yunus, expressing Italy’s support for the reform initiatives in Bangladesh aimed at enhancing the social and economic conditions of its citizens.

The meeting in New York served as a platform to address migration, with an emphasis on strengthening collaboration in this area. This includes reviving negotiations to finalize a bilateral agreement to tackle irregular migration, enhance cooperation on returns, and facilitate legal migration pathways.
