Dhaka, Dec 09 (V7N)- Bangladesh has conveyed its dissatisfaction to India regarding recent statements made by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her visit to Delhi. Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin communicated this sentiment during his meeting with visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Mishri on Monday.

Speaking after the meeting, Jasim Uddin stated that Bangladesh had urged Indian media to halt false propaganda about the country. “We have made it clear that issues concerning Bangladeshi citizens are internal matters, and there is no room for external meddling,” he asserted.

Minority Concerns and Ground Observation

Responding to concerns raised about minority rights, the Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary invited India to observe the situation firsthand. “If there are doubts regarding the condition of minorities, they are welcome to visit our country and see the reality on the ground,” Jasim Uddin said.

Border Killings Addressed

The discussion also touched upon the issue of border killings, which Jasim Uddin described as undesirable and inconsistent with the friendly ties between the two nations. “We have emphasized that such incidents should not occur, as they undermine our bilateral relationship,” he added.

Indian Foreign Secretary's Assurance

Following a separate meeting with Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid Hossain, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Mishri reiterated India’s commitment to enhancing relations with Bangladesh. “India seeks a constructive and positive partnership with Bangladesh, working closely with the interim government for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries,” Mishri stated.

The discussions underscored the importance of addressing sensitive bilateral issues while maintaining a cooperative and respectful dialogue. Both sides appear to be working towards resolving tensions and fostering a stronger partnership.
