Dhaka, Dec 10 (V7N)- Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Shafiqul Alam, announced that 70 individuals have been arrested in connection with 88 incidents of violence against minorities occurring between August 5 and October. Speaking at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy, he assured that all perpetrators would be brought to justice.

Market Control Measures

The government is intensifying efforts to stabilize market prices amid rising international costs for essential commodities like soybean and palm oil, controlled by three to four companies globally. Alam stated that prices are being closely monitored, and seasonal declines in the prices of winter vegetables have already been observed.

Comments on Misrule and Chhatra League

He criticized the Chhatra League members for allegedly fleeing to India after engaging in looting. Describing them as "symbols of misrule," he noted that decisions regarding their future remain under India's jurisdiction.

Rohingya Crisis Conference

On the Rohingya issue, Alam revealed plans for an international conference in September or October 2025. The event will bring together representatives from multiple countries to address the ongoing crisis and explore solutions.

Promotions and Administrative Reshuffles

Deputy Press Secretary Azad Majumdar discussed the formation of a government committee to address grievances of officials deprived of promotions. After reviewing applications, 764 individuals were recommended for promotion.

He also noted that administrative reshuffles are being carried out regularly based on necessity. Thousands of posts have been reassigned, and recommendations from political parties have been taken into account for changes in various diplomatic missions.

These measures reflect the government's commitment to addressing pressing issues and maintaining administrative efficiency while fostering international collaboration.
