Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) – In preparation for the celebration of Victory Day, Dhaka District Police has reinforced all security measures and intensified intelligence surveillance.

On Saturday afternoon, DIG of Dhaka Range, AKM Awlad Hossain, shared these updates during his inspection of the security arrangements at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.

The DIG said: “Police and intelligence agencies are actively engaged in ensuring the security of the memorial and its surrounding areas. Nearly 3,000 personnel have been deployed to oversee security. Enhanced measures are also in place in adjacent districts, with special arrangements for traffic management. There are no security threats surrounding Victory Day celebrations.”

He added: “For Victory Day 2024, Dhaka District Police has implemented a five-tier security plan. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has also taken their own measures. Our security arrangements will cover the area starting from Amin Bazar.”

The DIG further said: “Our security efforts are not limited to the National Martyrs’ Memorial; surrounding districts like Manikganj, Tangail, and Gazipur (including the Gazipur Metropolitan area) are also within our security perimeter.”

“We have ensured comprehensive security measures, including uniformed officers, plain-clothed personnel, and members of specialised forces such as APBn. This will allow VIPs, social and political figures, and their supporters to pay their floral tributes at the memorial in a disciplined and secure environment,” Awlad Hossain added.

He confirmed that all preparations have been completed, and senior officials conducted on-site inspections to review the arrangements. “A total of 3,112 personnel are on duty. All individuals entering the premises are being thoroughly checked to prevent any untoward incidents,” he further said.

The DIG assured the public that full-phase security measures are in effect and expressed confidence that the celebrations on the December 16 will proceed in a joyous and safe manner, free from any threats.

Additional IGP Akram Hossain, along with Dhaka District Superintendent of Police and other senior police officials, was also present during the inspection.
