Dhaka, Dec 17, (V7N) –Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Khondkar Nazmul Hasan on Tuesday emphasized the need for fostering a culture of compliance with the law and promoting patience among citizens.
He was addressing a citizens' forum organized at Setara Convention Hall in Pallabi.
"Maintaining law and order is the police's responsibility, while your cooperation is essential. Together, we can achieve the highest improvement in law and order," he said.
He further said that if Dhaka cannot be freed from crime, drugs, and traffic congestion following July and August, it might never be possible.
Speaking as the chief guest, Khondkar Nazmul Hasan said that the primary responsibility of the police is to maintain law and order, while the community's role is to assist the police.
"We always seek your support to perform our duties effectively," he added.
The additional commissioner urged citizens to follow traffic laws and assist the police in maintaining order on the roads.
"If any member of the traffic police is found involved in irregularities, we will take strict action. However, we also request your full cooperation to avoid creating obstacles during their duty. Without your support, it will be impossible to maintain law and order. And without proper law and order, sustainable development cannot be achieved," he said.
During the meeting, students and residents of Shah Ali police station area shared their opinions and suggestions with the additional commissioner.
