Dhaka, Jan 02 (V7N)— The Election Commission (EC) has released the draft voter list, revealing a total of 123.683 million voters in Bangladesh. The list includes 1,833,352 newly registered voters, reflecting a growth rate of 1.50 percent.
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah announced the draft at a press conference held at the Election Building on Thursday morning. He emphasised that the current commission is committed to maintaining the integrity of the voter list by launching a door-to-door update program to identify missing voters and ensure accuracy.
For the first time, expatriates from seven countries have been included in the voter list. A total of 13,151 expatriates have been added, marking a significant step in integrating overseas citizens into the electoral process.

The commission has also set January 17 as the deadline for submitting claims and objections regarding the draft list. The final voter list is scheduled for publication on March 2, following the resolution of any disputes.
The door-to-door voter update program will begin on January 20, aiming to ensure the inclusion of missing voters and address discrepancies.
This initiative underscores the EC’s commitment to transparency and inclusivity as the country prepares for its next electoral phase.
