Dhaka, Feb 3 (V7N) – Information Advisor Nahid Islam has assured that a "positive solution" to the ongoing crisis surrounding Titumir College is in progress, urging students to exercise patience.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to the Saraswati Puja celebration at Jagannath Hall, Dhaka University, on Monday morning, Nahid Islam emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the students' concerns.
“A positive solution may be in the works. I urge the students of Titumir College to be patient. The government is sincere and responsible towards their educational life and institutions. However, at this moment, it may not be possible to do much,” he stated.
The advisor also urged students to refrain from causing public suffering, adding:
“Students should keep in mind the inconvenience caused to the public. I hope a good outcome will emerge for everyone.”
Protests Escalate as Hunger Strike Continues
Despite the government’s assurance, student protests have intensified, with some students now on their sixth day of a hunger strike, demanding that Titumir College be declared a university.
As part of their ongoing movement, students blocked roads and railways in Mohakhali, causing disruptions in the capital.
Govt Warns Against Conspiracies
Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud, who was also present at the puja, reaffirmed the law enforcement agencies' vigilance and issued a warning to political opponents.
“The law enforcement agencies are always alert. The Awami League will not benefit from conspiring,” he stated, hinting at political tensions surrounding the movement.
As the protests continue to gain momentum, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to the students' demands in the coming days.
