Dhaka, Feb 3 (V7N)Interim government Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has ordered the implementation of an online system for filing cases, eliminating the need for people to physically visit police stations.

The decision was made during a high-level law and order review meeting at the state guest house Jamuna on Monday (February 3). The meeting was attended by:

  • Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury
  • Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Md. Khoda Baksh Chowdhury
  • Home Secretary Nasimul Gani

Objective: Reduce Harassment & Improve Efficiency

Currently, citizens must visit their local police station to file a First Information Report (FIR), a process that is often time-consuming and leaves room for harassment.

To address this, Professor Yunus proposed:

  1. A dedicated phone number, similar to 999, for filing FIRs online.
  2. An online complaint system, allowing people to lodge cases from anywhere in the country.
  3. A special police call center, to assist those facing difficulties with online case filing.

Implementation & Next Steps

Professor Yunus directed Police Chief Baharul Alam to launch a new hotline for online FIRs as soon as possible. Once operational, this initiative is expected to simplify legal procedures and enhance accessibility for the public.

This marks a significant step toward modernizing Bangladesh’s law enforcement system, with the goal of making justice more accessible to all citizens.
