Dhaka, Feb 09 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced that the ongoing ‘Devil Hunt’ operation will persist “as long as the devil exists”, signaling a continued crackdown on elements deemed destabilizing to national security.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday morning while inaugurating the soil building of a farmhouse in Farmgate, the advisor emphasized, “Those who destabilize the country will be arrested.”
Addressing recent events in Gazipur, Chowdhury stated, “Many of those responsible for the Gazipur incident have already been brought under the law. The rest will also be apprehended soon.” The Gazipur incident has drawn national attention, although specific details regarding the event remain limited.
When questioned about the destruction of a farmer's sculpture in Sunamganj, the advisor claimed he was unaware of the incident but assured the public, “Whatever the incident, an investigation will be conducted, and necessary measures will be taken.”
In a significant development, the Home Affairs Advisor also announced the arrest of five police officers, though he did not provide details regarding their identities or the charges against them. This move aligns with the government's broader efforts to address corruption and misconduct within law enforcement agencies.
The ‘Devil Hunt’ operation appears to reflect the interim government’s hardline approach towards maintaining law and order, though critics argue it could be used to suppress political dissent and target opposition groups.
