Dhaka, Feb 23 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has launched a nationwide crackdown to combat terrorism, extortion, theft, and robbery, ensuring public safety at any cost.

RAB Director General (DG) Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman made the announcement during a late-night inspection of patrols and check posts in Matuail, Jatrabari, at 2 AM on Saturday.

Law and Order Concerns

Despite continuous efforts, the law and order situation has not improved as expected, Rahman admitted. He expressed concerns over criminal groups attempting to create panic by carrying out violent crimes across the country.

RAB's Actions and Security Measures

  • Increased Patrolling: All RAB battalions are conducting non-stop patrols in their designated areas, focusing on high-risk zones.
  • Check Posts & Searches: Security has been tightened across Dhaka and the country, with RAB coordinating with other law enforcement agencies.
  • 24/7 Surveillance: RAB’s control rooms are closely monitoring security in key areas.
  • Bomb Disposal & Dog Squad: Kept on standby to respond to any emergency threats.
  • Intelligence Monitoring: Undercover surveillance has been intensified to detect potential criminal activities.

Arrests & Recoveries

Since February 10, RAB has arrested 180 suspects, including:

  • 40 from Dhaka
  • 25 from Mymensingh
  • 24 from Rajshahi
  • 17 from Sylhet
  • 15 from Narayanganj

Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered.

Continued Vigilance

RAB has vowed to continue its operations aggressively to prevent sabotage, violence, and threats to public security. The force remains on high alert, ensuring that law and order are maintained nationwide.
