Dhaka, Mar 04 (V7N) – The prices of daily essentials remain stable as the government took early measures before the start of Ramadan, despite attempts by market syndicates to create instability, officials of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection have claimed.

Consumer rights officials have been conducting regular raids across markets in Dhaka and nationwide to prevent price manipulation and the sale of adulterated products. The National Department of Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has deployed 13 teams across Dhaka city to supervise the prices of potatoes, onions, rice, lentils, sugar, and edible oil.

On Tuesday morning, a raid was conducted at Karwan Bazar under the leadership of Assistant Director Abdul Jabbar Mandal. After the operation, he stated:

“The market for daily necessities during Ramadan is at a tolerable level due to government supervision. This time, the conspiracy of the Ramadan syndicate did not succeed, and in the future, they won’t be able to either.”

Despite stable prices for most goods, traders reported a shortage of edible soybean oil, suggesting that earlier government intervention—15 to 20 days before Ramadan—could have prevented this issue.

Officials have assured that daily inspections will continue from morning to evening throughout Ramadan to prevent market manipulation and ensure stable supply chains.
