Dhaka, Mar 06 (V7N) –The ban on sending workers from Bangladesh to Lebanon has been lifted. The suspension was due to the abnormal war situation in the country, but with the improvement in conditions, Bangladeshi workers can now travel to Lebanon.

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment withdrew the ban on Tuesday. The Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon issued a notice on Wednesday confirming the decision.

The embassy said that workers can now be sent to Lebanon under certain conditions, including certification of each demand letter by the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut and ensuring they are placed in suitable working environments, excluding southern regions near the Israeli border.

Last year, due to the war situation along the Lebanon-Israel border, the government had halted the dispatch of workers to Lebanon. The decision was made to prevent workers from traveling until the security situation improved.

Following this, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare issued a notice on August 13, 2024, advising against sending Bangladeshi workers to Lebanon.

The suspension lasted for seven months. However, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut recently informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the situation in Lebanon had improved, with normalcy returning to various areas. Consequently, a final decision was made to resume sending workers to Lebanon.
