Dhaka, Mar 11 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has seized several properties and bank accounts belonging to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members, including a prominent flat in Dhanmondi, and properties in Gulshan and Segunbagicha.
According to ACC sources, the seized properties include Sudhasadan, located in Dhanmondi, the Tulip Siddiqui Flat in Gulshan, and Sheikh Rehana’s flat in Segunbagicha. In addition to these, the ACC has frozen 124 bank accounts linked to Sheikh Hasina and her family members.
In a related development, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) reported the recovery of Tk 635.14 crore from the 124 frozen bank accounts. This move is part of a broader effort to combat financial misconduct, including money laundering and asset misappropriation.
Furthermore, the BFIU has also seized a 60-katha plot with a deed value of Tk 18 million, as well as eight flats, including 10 percent of land worth Tk 8.5 million.
The information was disclosed earlier this week at a high-level meeting titled "Recovery of Laundered Assets, Steps Taken, and Challenges." The meeting was chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and was held at the Bangladesh Bank headquarters. The Office of the Chief Advisor later released the details to the public.
This action is part of an ongoing investigation into illicit financial activities and asset recovery efforts targeting individuals with alleged involvement in corruption and money laundering.
