Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) carried out separate operations in the city's Wari and Kamrangichar areas on Monday night, resulting in the arrest of 57 individuals and the seizure of 12 faulty gas cylinders from 55 eateries.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-Wari Zone) Masudur Rahman, the operations focused on 31 restaurants and hotels in the Wari area. Officials inspected the establishments to ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the presence of exit gates and proper securing of gas cylinders.
Legal action will be taken against those arrested during the operations, stated ADC Rahman.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner (Lalbagh Zone) Md Imran Hossain Molla reported that similar operations were conducted in areas such as Rasulpur, Ashrafabad, and Lohar Bridge in Kamrangichar. A total of 24 individuals were arrested during the operations conducted in 24 restaurants, with a focus on assessing awareness among eatery owners regarding the safe use of flammable substances.
Both ADC Rahman and Assistant Commissioner Molla emphasized the importance of ensuring safety measures in eateries to prevent potential accidents and protect public safety.
