Dhaka, Mar 15 (V7N) – Several political parties and key stakeholders held a roundtable meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Saturday. The discussion, which began at 1 PM, focused on governance reforms, constitutional issues, and the trial of genocide.

Among the attendees were BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, AB Party General Secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad, Jatiya Nagorik Party Convener Nahid Islam, Mass Solidarity Movement Chief Coordinator Jonayed Saki, and CPB General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince.

After the meeting, Jatiya Nagorik Party Convener Nahid Islam stated, "Our party's position on reforms was emphasized during the discussion. We believe that the foundation for necessary reforms should be laid during this government's tenure. Additionally, we highlighted our stance on the constitution and the establishment of a Constituent Assembly."

Also present at the meeting were Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul, Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, and members Dr. Iftekharuzzaman and Badiul Alam Majumder.

Antonio Guterres arrived in Dhaka last Thursday on a four-day visit at the invitation of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. As part of his visit, he traveled to Cox’s Bazar on Saturday to meet with Rohingya refugees. The UN Secretary-General is scheduled to depart from Dhaka on Sunday morning.
