Sirajganj, Mar 24 (V7N) – The Sirajganj Roads and Highways Department and the Highway Police are hopeful that this year's Eid journey in the northern region will be smoother than previous years due to significant improvements in road infrastructure.

To prevent traffic congestion, 9 out of 11 flyovers on the Dhaka-Bogra highway and the service road of Hatikumrul Interchange are set to open before Eid. Additionally, as the Dhaka-Rangpur highway is now a four-lane road, homebound travelers are expected to experience a hassle-free journey.

The 22-kilometer highway from Jamuna Bridge West Roundabout to Hatikumrul Roundabout is a crucial route for people traveling from 22 districts in the north and south of the country. On a regular day, 17,000 to 20,000 vehicles use this highway, but this number multiplies several times in the days leading up to and after Eid, often causing severe traffic congestion.

Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Project Manager of SASEC-2, stated:

"We hope that this year's Eid journey will be completely worry-free and comfortable. The road from the west side of the Jamuna Bridge to Chandaikona is four-lane, with only one three-lane section at Bhuiyaghati."

Meanwhile, SASEC-2 Project Director Dr. Waliur Rahman assured that Sirajganj highways will not face major disruptions this Eid. He confirmed that 9 flyovers on the Dhaka-Bogra highway and the service road of Hatikumrul Interchange will be operational soon to further ease traffic flow.

Authorities remain optimistic that these improvements will make the Eid journey safer and more comfortable for travelers heading to northern Bangladesh.
